Greece will participate with two female marine biologist researchers: PhD candidate Eleni Kytinou from HCMR (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research) and PhD candidate Dionysia Rigatou from NKUA (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) – Department of Biology. The two researchers will be hosted at the Bulgarian base on Livingston Island during the period January – February 2026.

According to an announcement by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, on Sunday 20/10/2025, the traditional training camp for participants of the upcoming 34th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition was completed at Marina Cape in the town of Aheloy, Bulgaria.
According to the announcement, special emphasis in the upcoming mission will be placed on the implementation of 20 scientific projects, six of which are led by teams from their international partners.

Bulgaria continues to serve as a regional hub for polar research, as the expedition includes two Greek marine biologists/oceanographers, two marine biologists from Montenegro, a geomorphologist from Romania, and four scientists from the United Arab Emirates.
